Clarion’s flagship event in Africa were due for a change. The WAPIC clients (West African Power Industry Convention) had huge client potential in Nigeria so it was time to launch in Nigeria. My brief was to lay the foundation for the establishment of this event in Nigeria. 6 years later, the event has gone from strength to strength and still runs in Nigeria. We successfully spearheaded the launch. As event Ambassadors, we pioneered relationships on the ground in Nigeria and across West Africa with industry stakeholders such as The Ministry of Power, prospect sponsors, partners and national press. We undertook detailed target market research, understood the needs of the market and consolidated the value proposition to the audience and wider stakeholders. The launch subsequently led to a 20% increase in delegate numbers and revenue for this event. Our ability to integrate into Clarion’s team, penetrate the marketplace and engage with their stakeholders was the reason for our success. This event continues to grow YOY, with the strong launch, strategy and growth plans put in place by ourselves.
